Topic: dynu with ddwrt issue
Hello. I have dynu ddns setup to automatically update with ddwrt and it shows "successfully updated", however I never see the ip address ever actually updated.

Could you please confirm that this is your settings in the router?DDNS Service : CustomDYNDNS Server : api.dynu.comUsername : your Dynu usernamePassword : your Dynu password or MD5 encrypted passwordHostname : example.dynu.com or yourdomain.comURL : Leave empty

You need to sign up for home.thegollys.com separately at https://www.dynu.com/en-US/ControlPanel/AddDDNS by using option 2.

Hi Timothy,Thanks for the reply!I signed up thegollys.com using Option 2 and added home.thegollys.com as an alias. Are you saying there's no way to automate the updating of an alias ip address? It has to be registered as the primary domain? Thanks again,Jeremy

That is correct. You need to set it up as a primary domain name. The router settings cannot update aliases automatically as the update of alias and primary domain uses different protocols.Primary domain name:http://api.dynu.com/nic/update?hostname=[HOSTNAME]&myip=[IP ADDRESS]&password=[PASSWORD]Aliases:http://api.dynu.com/nic/update?hostname=[HOSTNAME]&alias=[ALIAS]&myip=[IP ADDRESS]&password=[PASSWORD]If you use the IP update client software at https://www.dynu.com/en-US/DynamicDNS/IPUpdateClient, you will be able to update aliases.

Thanks again Timothy. You got me pointed in the right direction. To update an alias for a dynu account I used the URL you provided in the URL section of DD-WRT. Because the username and password are in the url I put them as N/A in the settings input boxes. They are ignored with this setup. The url I used is http://api.dynu.com/nic/update?password=INSERT_PASSWORD_HERE&hostname=INSERT_HOSTNAME_HERE&alias=INSERT_ALIAS_HERE&myip=Thanks!
